Household Hazardous Waste Collection

KBB, Blount County, and TDEC will be hosting a FREE household hazardous waste drive-thru collection day on October 21 from 8am-1pm at the Blount County Convenience Center, 331 Levi St. Maryville.

This is a drive-through event for household waste ONLY.  No business, institutional, or agricultural waste will be accepted. 

Automotive and Marine Products
• oil and fuel additives
• grease and rust solvents, naval jelly
• carburetor and fuel injector cleaners
• starter fluids
• body putty
• antifreeze / coolant
• gasoline
Home Maintenance / Improvement Products
• used strippers and thinners
• adhesives
• driveway sealant
• roofing tar
• wallpaper remover
Home Lawn and Garden Products
• pesticides
• fertilizers
• wood preservatives
• pool chemicals
• photo processing chemicals
• medicines/drugs
• aerosols / compressed gas
• mercury thermostats and thermometers
• fluorescent tubes
• compact fluorescent bulbs
• needles and sharps (in a puncture-proof container)

Medical / Biological
• infectious wastes
• dead animals
• any waste from a doctor's office, clinic, or veterinarian's office
Explosives / Ammunition
• fireworks
• military ordnance
• gunpowder
• ammunition
• smoke detectors
• radium paint
Construction/Home Improvement
• cement mix
• lime
• bone meal
• grout
• empty containers of any kind
• friable asbestos
• alkaline batteries
• machine parts/compressors containing oil or freon
• electronics and appliances

Costs are paid for by the Tennessee Department of Conservation.

Oil-based paint will not be accepted by TDEC, but is accepted by the Blount County Convenience Center year round and will be accepted at this event.

NOTE: Alkaline batteries no longer contain mercury and can be disposed of in your normal trash. Latex paint can be dried out with cat litter, sand, or shredded paper and disposed of in your normal trash. For a list of other disposal options in Blount County, visit our website.
