When the field trip includes a waste free lunch students and parents are encouraged to thoughtfully pack a lunch that will contain no waste once it is eaten. This helps students learn the value of waste reduction on an individual daily basis. Below are examples of wasteful lunches and wasteless lunches.


Wasteful lunches include:
Lots of pre-packaging
Individually wrapped food
Lunchables
Zip-lock baggies
Paper Napkins
Non-recyclable materials which include any plastics that are not numbered on the bottom
Cardboard and boxboard
Non-reusable bags to carry the lunch: plastic bags, paper bags
No-Waste lunches include:
Re-useable lunchboxes
Washable/Re-useable plastic containers
Cloth napkins
Re-useable utensils
Recyclable materials
Fruits and Vegetables-Your child will be given the opportunity to compost any leftovers
Plenty of water (2 bottles)- There is no drinking fountain. Please ensure that your child has adequate water for an active day.
