Keep Blount Beautiful's goal is for every student to visit our local landfill before they reach the sixth grade.
We have been achieving this goal since 2004. Tours are free of charge and dates/times are flexible and levels of understanding can be adjusted to any age group.
School Fieldtrip Schedule:
- 9am: Meet at Landfill Scalehouse Entrance
- 9am-11am: Two hour tour of landfill
- 11am: Leave landfill and head to activities pavilion (DENSO site to open Spring 2012)

11:30am Waste Free Lunch - students provide. Click here for an example
- Sorting of lunch into recycling, compost and trash
- 12pm: Fred the Fish Stormwater Pollution Program
- 12:15pm: Activities - Great Trash Pick-Up, Recycling Relay & Compost Dissection

The tour covers reducing, reusing , recycling, stormwater pollution, litter prevention & composting.
No more than 60 students (one school bus) each day. If your group is larger you must book for two days.
A new outdoor classroom will be built at DENSO Manufacturing and finished Spring 2012. Until completion lunch and activities will take place at your school outdoor pavilion or the park of your choice.

- Local Recycling, Reducing, Reusing Facts
- Tour dates/times TBD individually
Landfill hours are 8am-5:30pm
All tours must be conducted during this time
