In the Spring of 1990 a group of concerned citizens organized an event called Little River Awareness Day. This event enlisted volunteers to help clean up and remove debris from Blount County's Little River. Little did they know, this event would be the start of something big.
In 1992 Keep Blount Beautiful was born. Citizens and government entities partnered together to secure funding through the Alcoa/Maryville/Blount County Landfill for education services and the TDOT Litter Grant through the Blount County Sheriff's Office for education. Without these funding sources KBB would not be here today.

KBB is an award winning 501 (c) 3 non-profit located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Our mission is to improve our community by encouraging litter prevention, waste reduction and beautification.
KBB fulfills the mission through education, yearly events and on-going programs. Our office of one employee and a 10-month Americorps Service Member educate every school within the county on waste reduction, litter prevention and stormwater pollution. We hold at least two large annual clean-ups per year, run an Adopt-a-Mile program, Beautification Awards, recycling events and more. We are the only source in the county for recycling resources and household hazardous waste disposal information. Our services are offered free of charge to everyone.
